What is KiputerOS?

KiputerOS is the first operating system for Kids, and their families. KiputerOS is an operating system, that replaces Windows, MacOSX or Linux. The OS has integrated applications and functionality, that makes surfing the internet safe for kids. The OS will automatically block porn, spam, viruses and malware. Parents just install the OS, and that's it. No complicated parental controls to setup. No tedious blocking of bad websites. Over 3 Million websites are automatically blocked. In addition, if a child tries to do a keyword search in a search engine using illicit search terms (such as porn, “sexy ladies” etc) the search will be blocked.

KiputerOS has built in applications and software pre-configured and pre-installed. Web browsers, DVD playback software, even an Office Suite (Open Office 3).

KiputerOS is compatible with most Windows applications. If you have legacy Windows software (XP compatible software) that you have bought, or use, you can still use it on KiputerOS. Just install the disk, and run the installation software. Most programs should work, including video games, but we can't guarantee that all apps will work. KiputerOS is also compatible with Linux software.

Finally, KiputerOS is kid friendly. Each child gets their own account, with a different desktop suitable for their age.

KiputerOS Installation Information

The KiputerOS comes on a single DVD install disk. You can either download the ISO file from our website for free, then burn the ISO file to a disk, then boot off that ISO disk. (Downloading the ISO can take from 8 to 36 hours.) Or, you can order the installation disk, and we will mail it straight to your home. Ordering the disk is recommended. With the ordered disk, you may install KiputerOS on as many systems in your household as you would like.

Installing KiputerOS is designed to be easy. Essentially, you will boot off the installation disk, and then hit the enter key when prompted. That's it. Just one-click install.

However, keep in mind that this install will totally wipe your existing computer system, and whatever operating system and data currently stored. It is highly recommended that you backup whatever data you need.

It is possible to install KiputerOS in a multi-boot mode, with multiple partitions, however, you will need to be familiar with command line commands. Future versions of KiputerOS will have an installer that will automatically configure your system in a multi-boot format. Check back later (perhaps a few weeks) if you would like to wait for this update.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

• Obtain computer system with KiputerOS minimum requirements, including DVD Rom drive.
• Configure BIOS or temporary boot device CMOS setup to boot off DVD rom
• Boot computer with KiputerOS DVD inside disk drive.
• Wait for system to boot. You will see a bunch of text data scroll on your screen. Wait for it to completely stop.
• You should see a prompt stating “Press enter to install”. Just hit the enter key, and wait about 20 minutes, the system will configure itself for installing.
• The install is complete when you see the message on your screen (“Installation is complete”)
• Reboot or power cycle your machine. Make sure you remove the DVD install disk!

• Intel compatible processor, Pentium III equivalent or better
• 512 MB of Ram
• DVD Rom drive (for installation)
• One IDE ATA drive (SATA is possible, but installer doesn't recognize)

• Internet connection (not necessary, but highly recommended)
